Vocal Workshop January 25-26, 2025 – Collaborative Vocal Improvisation
The practice of collaborative singing offers an experience of voice and body within a collective process. It weaves the threads of spontaneous vocal improvisation up to instant composition.
All voices are welcome in this artistic form that arises from an introspection of our relational habits, guiding them towards a path of musical awareness.
During the workshop, Giulia and Amaël will guide you through different exploratory phases:
- Connection with breath
- How the voice can support movement in a dance of reciprocity
- Exploration of rhythm
- Timbral qualities of the voice
- Singing and polyphonies
- Connection with other participants
- Development of musical skills that promote not only the art of music but also relationships with others, well-being, and the uniqueness of each individual
Schedule:
- Saturday, January 25, 2025: 10 AM-1 PM, 3 PM-6 PM
- Evening Circlesong: Saturday 8 PM-9:30 PM
- Sunday: 9 AM-12 PM, 1:30 PM-4:30 PM
Practical Information:
- The workshop takes place at Kendreka, in the Alpes Maritimes (France).
- The workshop is held in a large room with a comfortable wooden floor.
- For the quality of the presence (and the well-being of the floor), it is not allowed to bring phones, food, and drinks into the workshop room (a CLOSED bottle is permitted).
- A fully equipped kitchen will be available on-site. You can bring food for breaks and meals.
Accommodation:
It is possible (but not mandatory) to stay on-site, at a rate of €25/night, in rooms of 4 to 6 people, with individual bathrooms and toilets.

- The address: Kendreka, 8 chemin du Puas, 06460 St Vallier de Thiey.
- By plane: fly into Nice and take the bus (ZOU! LER 31 direct, or connection to Grasse) or rent a car.
- By train, come to Cannes or Grasse, and finish with the bus.
- By car, please park at the large free parking lot in front of the Espace du Thiey, and walk the last 200 meters. See the map >

Guilia Matteucci
Giulia Matteucci is a singer, vocal improviser, circle singing facilitator and community builder. Curious, studious and fascinated by the beauty that people can generate when they come together sharing a common intent. Her work encourages the development of vocality and well-being through music.
Always passionate about the voice and artistic forms of communication and aggregation linked to music, she has over fifteen years of experience in teaching singing. Amaël Ferrando
My path led me to explore singing in different forms, from lyrical singing to classical Indian singing, then improvised jazz singing which I studied at the Conservatorium Van Amsterdam and at the Berklee College of Music (Boston), and finally at Circlesongs…
At the same time, I practice and teach other vibrational approaches: Systema, Nidra Yoga, Qigong and especially the Taoist tradition of Qigong Tuina which I studied for nine years in Beijing. Writing books in these areas hones my creative expression.
The circular night is for me a way of unifying these different aspects: voice, movement, energy, corporeality and spirituality, rhythm, instant composition and musical improvisation. Everything is there, everything is created in the moment and is transformed every moment..
