Amaël Ferrando

Amaël Ferrando, chanteur, facilitateur Circlesongs

Trained as a professional singer and musician from the age of 10, my journey led me to study a variety of vocal traditions: classical singing at the Ecole Maîtrisienne and under Marc Vento, a soloist at the Paris Opera; North Indian classical singing with Shri Hanuman; and later, improvised singing and jazz at the IMFP, the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, and the Berklee College of Music (Boston).

This exploration allowed me to develop technical and conceptual tools that continue to serve me today. However, the essence—the meaning, the connection to oneself and to others—remained elusive at that time.

To deepen these aspects, I immersed myself in other vibrational practices: bodywork, martial arts (Systema), Nidra Yoga, energy arts, and especially the Taoist tradition of Qigong Tuina, which I studied in Beijing for nine years within a traditional lineage.

These experiences also inspired me to write a series of books, reflecting another facet of my artistic identity.

The discovery of Circlesong introduced me to a new, more inclusive, and perhaps deeper approach to music. I have had the privilege of studying and/or co-leading with artists who opened new horizons for me: Guillermo Rozenthuler (London), Gaël Aubrit, David Eskenazy, Nicholas Mahnich, Zuza Gonçalves (São Paulo), Joey Blake (Boston), Giulia Matteucci (Bologna)…

A specialized training in vocal techniques rooted in acoustic science further broadened my understanding of the voice and sound.

Today, I live a multifaceted life as a singer, Systema (martial art) instructor, author, therapist, and teacher of Qigong Tuina and Acupressure. These diverse pursuits are united by a single aim: nurturing the connection to one’s body and voice. It is about reclaiming autonomy as a human being—in one’s body, health, truth of being, and freedom of expression, movement, and creation…
